Finally Friday!

Happy Friday!!!......It's gonna be a busy weekend.....starting with waking up tomorrow morning at the butt crack of dawn to go volunteer for a triathlon (so Leon can qualify for the Marathon Next Year)....Should be fun!!.....
  
Was supposed to get up and Bike this morning, but the weather had 
 a different idea...it rained from 5-7am...and I needed to bike for 60 minutes...So tonight when I get home I'll just jump on my bike and head out for a nice ride....Tomorrow will be swimming day..and my new suit/cap/goggles came in the mail today...Who isn't more excited to work out when you get something new :)


And of course Sunday is the 10K...Not sure what I got myself into, but It will be a good training day...(flat course) and I can push myself to see what I'm capable of :).....and I know my hubby will be at the finish line waiting/cheering for me...so it will be worth it!

Whats on the Menu Today:  So far this is what I'm going to have....Not sure whats for dinner because I'll be biking when I get home, won't want to eat anything big, so......


Don't limit yourself, or let others limit you.....the sky is the limit.....push yourself to do better and be better!

It's Almost Friday.......

Well we have almost made it through another week!.......Thank goodness, this week has been super long at work, and I'm ready for a break from it...next week we have Wednesday off, and the following week I will be heading to Minneapolis to see my family!....Very excited for that!....But before we get to next week, we still have to finish out this crazy week/weekend......

Saturday we are volunteering at a triathlon in queens (this way Leon can qualify for the NYC Marathon Next Year)......So we are getting up at probably 4am we have to be there at 5:30 to volunteer....and I will still have to do some swimming on Saturday for training..and we are supposed to be going to a meeting for church as well...so we will see how Saturday turns out..

Sunday I will be attempting to run at 10K in Queens...I get kind of bored when the hubby does all of these races, and I figured instead of waiting on the sidelines, I might as well be out there running...and it will be a great training run for me, even if I only actually run a little more than half the race....I figure I can run/walk whatever I can't run..(the goal is to run the first 3 miles..and the rest is just a bonus).........
 I dont' have my food journal done yet, because i'm not sure which lean pocket I have in the fridge....So that will have to be posted later...Also not really sure what is for dinner tonight....that's even if I'm hungry....

Weigh-In-Wednesday

Happy Wednesday Y'all....Well it's that time of the week again, where I get to weigh in.....I lost 1lb. this week.....not a lot, but it's not a gain, so I'll take it!.....Training is in full swim so I expect good things in the weeks to come....I signed up to run a 10K on Sunday with the hubby..(while i'm not at 6 miles yet, I can run as much as I can and walk/jog the rest)...it gives me something to shoot for, so it should be fun!.....

Going to get my passport today....Since I booked our trip to Jamaica in my married name, I need to get my passport updated...So going to get my picture taken and send off all the papers...I'm actually happy to get a new picture...my last one is hideous!

Work is busy again as usual...Love it!.....Today was an off day for me...tomorrow is running, Friday is swimming, Saturday is Biking, and Sunday is the 10K...Wish me luck!!

Tuesday.......

Well, it's Tuesday, and I'm 2 for 2 on working out so far this week...that's a good start!.....Got to see a video of my nephew taking a few steps...definitely made my morning!!..He is super adorable!!

This morning was a 1000 meter swim...Took me around 30-35 minutes to complete (felt good, didn't stop except to adjust my suit/goggles)...not bad, my arms were a little tired this morning..not sure why.....

Have to work tonight....not really looking forward to it..(never really do)...Just keep reminding myself it will all be over soon!.....Work at O has been busy...been getting more responsibility, which makes for super fast days...(I like it like that).....

Tomorrow is a rest day....because I will get home late tonight, and it's church tomorrow night..

Refreshed Monday.....

I feel super refreshed today....Had a nice weekend, didn't feel too busy, and got a lot of rest (which was needed)....Cheered on a good friend and the hubby yesterday as they ran 13.1 miles in Fairfield CT...I was supposed to swim in the water, but boy was it freezing...I could not make myself go much farther in than up to my knees...Thank God the water is so much warmer in August when I will actually have to swim....Got a little bit of sun yesterday, which is good, just hoping the red turns to tan sooner than later....
My 2 favorite Runners....They both did great jobs on those hills of Fairfield!!

Got up for a run this morning, and was about a mile in and it started to rain...I can handle a little bit of rain, but it was the thunder and lightening that scared the crap out of me....Good thing I have a good husband who came to pick me up around 1.5 miles, I was drenched and a little startled with the booming thunder....So hopefully I can run another mile tonight when I get home so I can start to get my mileage in......

Thursday....Still Coughing.....UGH

Well I have been coughing for over 2 weeks now...contemplating going to the doctors and making sure it's nothing too bad....we will see....

Going swimming tonight...excited to see the pool again...and excited Sunday to swim in the open water while Leon and Jess run the 1/2....

Work is super busy lately.....which I like because it makes time go by so much faster!....Excited for this weekend...it's not too busy which is nice....looking forward to a weekend where we do not have ANYTHING planned....(not looking like that is happening anytime soon)...but a girl can wish!

Weigh In Day........

Well Happy Weigh In Day.....although I'm disappointed this morning..I'm not giving up...I worked really hard from last Thursday-today, and i didn't lose any weight...Can be super discouraging, but I'm going to keep pushing through.....and keep working out harder and continue to eat right...and next week i'll expect big things!

Will try to swim tonight when I get home..did not work out this morning because I worked last night till close to midnight...so will go for a swim when I get home....will probably be a good thing to cool off after such a HOT DAY!! (it's supposed to be over 90 at 7:pm tonight...)

Will have to post my food journal tomorrow...because I'm not sure what i'll be eating today since it's noon and I just ate my breakfast.....

Tuesday June 19th, 2012

Is it Friday yet?......It's only Tuesday and it feels like this week has been super super long....Busy Busy at work, and keeping focused on my training....Got called in to work tonight 8-12, so tomorrow I will only be working out at night (going swimming) because the temperature is going to be over 90 at 7:30pm tomorrow....

This morning I ran 2 miles in 22:30...not bad..trying to build myself up to run 4 miles before my triathlon....Slow and steady wins the race I guess...

Missed alot!!!

Well I have missed posting here for 3 days....AHHHHH....Friday was a good day...I had the day off, so I was able to bike for 11.5 miles and swim a little over a 1/4 of a mile...it felt good to get back into the groove of things....

Saturday, was supposed to be running and biking day, but I was only able to run..(because my butt hurt so bad from biking the day before :( )....I ran 3 miles in 37:30...(not great, but a starting point)...my goal is to be closer to 33:00 minutes for 3 miles and under 34 for a 5K (which is 3.1miles)....so I just need to keep training....

Sunday was REST DAY!  Thank God...My body was crying :) lol....

So here we are, it's Monday, and I started tracking my food intake on this myfitnesspal.com ......it's a great way to actually see how many calories/carbs/protein/fat I am taking in on a daily basis...and it also has a place to put in your exercise, so it shows you how many calories you are burning as well...So that is another great thing I am using to help me stay on track...I will be posting a picture of my food journals on here every day... (well it might be updated the next day so I make sure all my food is on there...) but today I already have my food picked out.

 My caloric intake is supposed to be 1430..but they seem to add your exercise calories to that allowing for you to eat more food....(I will probably not be partaking in the extra calories unless I have some type of even to go to..and even then will be very careful of what I am eating)

This mornings workout was a Jillian tape...it always feels good to get back into a workout groove...

and this week is the first week in FOREVER that we do not have anything planned any night until Saturday...(LOVE LOVE LOVE)

Oh and also my weigh in day will be changing to Wednesday...(just in case you wanted to know)

Happy My Friday

Do you ever get side tracked and loose focus?......Kind of like riding a bike for the first time...when you start riding and get excited and for one second and take your mind off the task at hand and you fall off the bike......Once this happens you have 2 options...you can get back on that bike and keep trying, or you can give up.....So many times in my life I have chosen the second option....I have given up because of a set back...I have chosen to let one bad day or week, turn into months and years.....So this time I'm choosing option 1...I'm getting back on the bike and finishing what I set out to accomplish.....

I said all that to say that when I weighed in this morning i had gained 4lbs....I fell off the bike for a few days, and I'm choosing to get right back on starting this morning..no more waiting for tomorrow....I have to learn in life that weight  will always be a struggle/battle for me...these were the genes I was born with....so I can either sit back and let it win, or be in control.....

I'm not proud of the weight gain....but I do promise to work hard and train harder.....

This morning the hubby and I woke up and did the #6 workout, and tomorrow I will be running and either biking or swimming...and Saturday I will be doing Biking and either running or swimming....

Some Days..........

Some mornings do you ever feel like you just want to crawl back into bed and start all over?......Today is definitely one of those days!.....Not sure if it's because I worked last night and got to bed late, or getting to be that time of the month, ...but i'm super emotional, and just want today to be over to start a new one tomorrow......

I'm starting to feel overwhelmed with my triathlon training combined with the Jillian workout....it can be a lot to handle, and i'm trying my best to get through it...I don't want to stop Jillian because I made a promise to follow the program through, and I will continue it, it's just taking a toll on me, and I have to figure out a better way to manage my time and training....

The official countdown till my 1st triathlon is 53 Days....August 5th will be here before you know it!!  Excited, Nervous and So ready (well I will be)......

Breakfast - baked french toast, small ammt of scrambled eggs, and coffee

Lunch - lean pocket and salad with apple

Snack - banana

I haven't worked out yet today....hoping I will be able to have energy when I get home to go for a run and let some of these feelings out....(or at least leave them on the trail)

Tuesday...Tired Tuesday :)

Good morning everyone!!!.....Well I"ll start with the fact that I forgot to weigh in this morning....I woke up and headed straight for the gym, and completely forgot what the day was.....Well, I swam 800M (1/2 mile) this morning in under 25 minutes (good for starting out...would like to get it under 20 minutes)...I think I did my first triathlon swim in just over 17 minutes...so I'm working on doing better than that!!

Have to do my workout tape tonight before I head into work to do a floor-set tonight....That's If I'm not taking a nap before I head in...or if I even have time....can't complain though don't have to work much the next 3 weeks.....If i don't' get to do my workout tonight, I will just do that and running tomorrow morning (if it isn't raining)

Lunch - Pork burger with Broccoli Rabe and salad

Just because you might not be the fastest, quickest, or best athlete yet, you are far better off than those who aren't doing a thing!  Persevere and stay strong...Keep your Mind focused on the prize!

Case of the Monday Blues

Who besides me did not want to get out of bed this morning?.......While I hit the snooze button about 2 times, I did drag myself out of bed and work out this morning...Tonight is the last night of packing the kiddos for camp!  Thank GOD!!!  It's stressful and tiring!.....

This week should be super productive with working out...going to go to the pool tomorrow am for my sprint training, and do Jillian when I get home tomorrow night....Wednesday is Biking/running..thursday is just Jillian and Friday is Jillian and Running (good think I have a Summer Friday then)..Saturday is Biking and swimming and Sunday is my day off!! Can't wait for that!!......

We have another jam packed weekend....Birthday Party (black tie) on Friday Night....Birthday party for our God-Son on Saturday and going with Milton to preach on Sat night....and Sunday (fathers day) we will be taking out the father-in-law......

(side note: special shout out to my father....the man who has helped make me the woman I am today...I thank you for all you have done in my life (even if i didn't understand it at the time, I do now!)...I appreciate you and love you...you are the most kind, caring, outgoing, and loving person I know....(everyone that has ever met you always tells me about how great my dad is)...and it's true..I am super lucky to have you in my life!!)...also thank you for the gift of swimming...every time I'm in the water I think of you!!

It's FRIDAY!!!!

Woooohoooo for Fridays!.....I have never been happier to see the weekend!!!...And my first weekend not working the 2nd job!...Even better....That doesn't mean I don't have a super busy weekend ahead!!!....Dinner and a show (A Street Car Named Desire) tonight....Youth Leaders Fellowship Tomorrow morning.....then a 50 minute bike ride followed up with a 600meter swim...Sounds like fun huh???

Did a 32 minute Run (with a little walking) this morning did a little over 2.6 miles...it's a starting point and I know I would like to get to be able to run a 5k (3.1miles) in about 32 minutes...so it's something to strive for.....

Breakfast - scrambled eggs and apple chicken sausage with coffee

Lunch:

Snack: no snack today going out to dinner

Dinner: We are going to an Italian restaurant...so I will have to make the best choice I can.

Is it Friday Yet???

This has been a tough week for me.....a struggle to get out of bed in the morning to work out...But I worked out Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday so far this week...so I have still managed to only miss 1 workout....

Today I did workout 6..it wasn't too bad...I just need to get more sleep...I have always needed sleep and going to bed after 11:00 for whole week is not helping me...

Triathlon training is in full effect...did sprint swim training last night at the pool....that is really hard...I could swim laps for hours, but when you have to do sprints..that is difficult..but it will make me better!!  Tomorrow is workout #5 and running 20 minutes....and Saturday is biking for 50 minutes and swimming 400-600 meters.

Happy Hump day

Well it's Wednesday, and we are almost through this week.....decided to have yesterday off from working out, because this cough is really taking a toll on me....was gonna get up and work out this morning, but the crying baby from upstairs decided to cry from 3am-4am (not sure why the parents didn't pick him up) and then my coughing kept me restless from 5am-7am....so I am going to go swimming after work!  Very excited for that (I definitely get my love of swimming from my daddy!)

Also put together my calendar for my triathlon training..and it's gonna be hard...on top of doing my Jillian tapes, i'm going to have to incorporate on Tuesdays - swimming, and Fridays Running...I have substituted my cardio days with my training..so only twice a week will I be doing double workouts....But the next 7 weeks will be hard,......but so worth it...I LOVE TRIATHLONS!!

Tired Tuesday

Yep, it's a tired Tuesday today......was helping pack my prior nannying kids for camp last night....and that is tiring.....was there till after 10:00 and was up some of the night coughing... :(  So this mornings workout will happen tonight.....But I did remember to weigh in, and I weighed in at 251..lost 1lb from last week....Waiting to reach that 10lb lost mark..hopefully next week!  Workouts are getting harder, and I need to start adding my triathlon training in full force!  Working on a training schedule now for the next 2 months.  Anxious for my 1st triathlon of the season, even if it's 2 months away!

Been battling this couch for about a week and a half, i'm really hoping it goes away because it hurts and is annoying.....

Plus side for the next 2 weeks i'm not working at my part-time job, so I'm able to really focus on training and getting a good start on that!!!

Breakfast: steel cut oatmeal made with almond milk and blueberries, coffee and a banana

Lunch: Soup and 1/2 sandwich

Dinner: Chicken Breast, green beans and salad (with tomato & avocado)

Phase 2 beginning of Month 2

Well I have survived 1 month!  YEAH!!.....This morning was beginning of month 2, and it wasn't that bad...the workout was definitely harder than last weeks, but that is a good thing!!!  Weekend was OK eating wise...better than prior weeks, but still not up to par where I would like to be. 

Went swimming on Saturday morning, and realized how much I miss swimming....it's just so peaceful in the water....no one talking to you, or bugging you....just you and the water...and I will be doing more of this because my first triathlon is like 2 months away!  holy cow!!.....reality check time is flying by!!

Breakfast- Steel cut oatmeal with blueberries, coffee and a banana

Lunch: tomato basil soup, and 1/2 a sandwich

Snack: greek yogurt

Happy Friday!!!

Happy Friday Everyone!!!!!

It's a beautiful day here in NYC...sun is shining and it's not too super Hot yet!!  Been a crazy week for me...had my ups and downs....Been thinking alot about my Grandma McHenry since she has been in the hospital.....They think she has been having little strokes, and that scares me a ton!  I definitely wished I lived closer so I could be by her side..I just hope she knows how special she is to me and how much I love her!  I know she is a fighter and a strong woman, and I trust God to be her healer....Love you Grandma!!!

Today was the last day of this months workout...(except cardio tomorrow).....definitely a bittersweet moment...knowing the workouts get harder with the weeks is scary, but finding out my body can handle it is even better!! 

Got my hair cut last night..not a HUGE difference, but a little shorter thinned it out, and added a wispy bang to the side...think i'll add some blonde highlights back in this weekend myself (who needs to pay 200$ for highlights at the salon anyways)  I can do my own highlights for under 20$ (i think that will make my husband smile) :)

Tonight is this All White Birthday Party...and I was having a hard time figuring out how to accessorize...Good things I'm friends with the accessories assistant at my job, and she helped a girl out!  We decided to go with a blue/green pop of color with the all white clothing......
